Features in WebIQ

There are a lot of features built into WebIQ. It is no longer necessary to code everything from scratch, to write a lot of code, or to have it only work on Windows. The HTML5 web technology enables you to do everything you can on any other website and also visualize and control PLC data in any modern web browser. There are a lot of resources available online to help you get started and to get help with web development. However, most of the time no code is needed - just click and configure!

Drag'n'drop and configure instead of writing code

WebIQ comes with more than 50 built-in widgets, all of which can be styled extensively and are delivered in both light and dark styles. Whether you need input or output widgets, gauges or trend displays, recipe widgets or buttons - WebIQ has it all:

Data recorder & Trend functionalities

A built-in SQLite database stores the data recorded by WebIQ's data recorder. Each database can store up to 281 TB of data, so you can record a lot of information. Trend widgets are included for visualizing stored data. You can visualize either current data or historical data with these widgets.

Style your widgets code-free

Radial Gauge widgets can be created without writing a single line of code. Besides being included with WebIQ, you can also configure the Radial Gauge widget easily by changing its design settings like font sizes, positions, and colors. You can export your widget and import it into another project if you want to reuse it!

Great for programmers, too!

WebIQ Designer is designed to make it easy to create, edit, and style a HMI without any programming knowledge, but programming is also possible from the most basic level upwards. All of that is possible, regardless of whether you already know CSS and want to create your own CSS classes or UI Actions and LocalScripts written in JavaScript. In the integrated code editor - which is the same as in Microsoft Visual Studio Code - CSS and JavaScript files can be edited very efficiently with syntax checking and auto-complete. Including external JavaScript and CSS libraries is easy and well documented since WebIQ is built on open web technologies.

With HTML, CSS and JavaScript only, you can also create custom widgets that give you an advantage over your competition. It is not only easy to learn web technology, but it is easier to find web developers than experts in other programming languages used for legacy non-web-based HMI systems. A simple Google search will also likely reveal answers to any questions you might have regarding HTML, CSS and JavaScript, so it's easy to find answers to questions you might have. As always, we are available for support on demand!

Responsive design in a breeze

For many companies, responsive design is one of the primary reasons they switch from legacy HMIs to modern web HMIs – the ability to access the HMI on a variety of devices and from anywhere on the planet – including smartphones, tablets, machine displays, and anywhere in the world. Our responsive layout features make it easy to make your web HMI react to different display sizes using modern web technologies such as flex layout and wrapping - all built on top of WebIQ's modern web technology:

Theming support

As WebIQ is based on open web technologies, it's possible to customize the styling of the widgets both directly inside WebIQ Designer and also by using custom CSS code. WebIQ also supports theming with both normal and inverted styles for all widgets. You can also create multiple themes for the same HMI, such as day and night themes. The following HMI illustrates how to easily change the styling for different theme-like effects.

WebIQ Designer: WYSIWYG Editor

WebIQ Designer's WYSIWYG ("What You See Is What You Get") editor makes it easy to create web HMIs with WebIQ.

Instant preview on mobile devices

Whenever you make any changes, they are visible immediately and can be tested directly on any browser, smartphone, or tablet in your local network - no need to publish or compile anything: you just need to open the preview address on your phone to see the current HMI as it appears in WebIQ. You will see the changes immediately if you change something in your HMI in WebIQ Designer - such as adding a widget! This makes testing for mobile devices a breeze! With the widget list and hierarchy open at the same time in WebIQ Designer's Layout Manager, you can see a lot more of your HMI than what is shown here.

There’s so much more
